Alexis "le randonneur" Nantel
Hiker and animator

Alexis discovered Chlorophylle on his first major hikes in 2007.
His fascination with the forest and wilderness environments began when his parents took him on the occasional Sunday afternoon hike. It was at this time that he received his first compass. His parents probably sensed that he would get lost in the backcountry at some point! Around the age of 10, he joined the scouts. There he discovered more about the woods, canoeing, camping and group living. In his twenties, he made several cycling trips in Quebec, Ontario, the Maritimes and the United States.
Hiker thirsty for summits
In 2007, he discovered the alpine environment in the Chic-Chocs in Gaspésie. He then climbed the famous Mount Washington and fell in love with it at first sight. In January 2008, he left for Africa to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, his first high mountain. This remarkable ascent pushed him to climb other peaks such as Elbrus, Aconcagua and Denali. All of this was punctuated by multiple alpine treks and summits in Europe, North Africa and the American Northeast.
Combining passion and work
Although he continues to hike, the birth of his daughters has somewhat changed Alexis’s outings. He has rediscovered Quebec and no longer shies away from beginner or intermediate trails. He left the fast-paced world of advertising agencies to start freelancing, and went on to become an outdoor columnist on over 20 radio stations across the province, developing his communication skills along the way. This experience led him to develop a television concept about hiking and mountains in Quebec, which he has hosted on TVA Sports since 2019 and which has also been available on RDS since 2026: Alexis le Randonneur.
He is still an outdoor columnist today, featured on more than 30 radio stations across Quebec, and is the author of the bestselling Guide pratique de la rando : Tout pour que ça marche !, published by Éditions de l’Homme, the first book of its kind created specifically for Quebecers.
Back to the roots
Chlorophylle is the first outdoor clothing brand he ever wore. Remember our little soft, crushable caps? Yes, those too! Supporting local brands and taking pride in wearing and promoting Quebec innovation are key to his philosophy as both an entrepreneur and a citizen.
Ecosensitive just like Chlorophylle
The other reason he chose Chlorophylle is undoubtedly his environmental sensitivity, which he shares with Chlorophylle. Like his show, Alexis’ brand is driven by a mission to promote hiking, the outdoors, and enjoyment, all while keeping the protection of nature front of mind. Through his content, he brings a fresh perspective to hiking and inspires a new generation to follow in his footsteps.
Encouraging his community to reconnect with nature, explore new playgrounds, and share that passion is his greatest motivation. Doing so with respect for ecosystems, and with an awareness of their fragility and the importance of preserving them, is his duty.
